Your Questions, Answered

  • You’ll find the Young Bards Academy at two locations, Dickens Heath Village Hall and Solihull Lodge Community Association.

  • Joining the Academy is easy! Just follow these three simple steps to start your musical journey:

    1. Book a Discovery Session: Check our website for dates to book a 60-minute presentation. This lets your child meet the tutors, try out instruments and includes free refreshments.

    2. Receive Your Bard Kit: Once you have found your chosen instrument please then join through our website. The website also contains an essential starter pack. This is tailored for your instrument and contains many goodies.

    3. Start Your Quest: We’ll match you with a weekly time slot that fits your schedule. Your childs journey then begins, to make new friends, learn their instrument and contribute to society.

  • We currently offer tuition in Piano, Guitar, Violin, and Electronic Drums. If you’re looking for something specific, let us know—we’re always expanding our circle of Master Bards!

  • We offer 60-minute sessions. This allows students to properly settle in, recap and consolidate what they have learnt and ask questions.

  • Absolutely. Every tutor (our Master Bards) must hold an Enhanced DBS check and complete specialist Safeguarding Training.

  • It’s more than okay—it’s where the magic starts! We specialise in beginners and focus on making those first notes feel like a massive win.

  • It’s our community's "Golden Rules" for respect, kindness, and looking after our gear. We use a Reward and Sticker system to celebrate when Bards show great character as well as great music.

  • We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you can't make it. This allows us to offer a refund on the lesson and provide catch up material. Unfortunately, "no-shows" or late cancellations cannot be refunded as our tutors' time is booked in advance.

In the event we cancel a lesson, a replacement lesson will be offered at the next immediate date.

  • No long-term scrolls here! If you ever need to leave the Academy, just give us 30 days notice via email at youngbardsinfo@gmail.com

  • Our teaching will begin Week Commencing 13th April 2026.

Phase 1 is the beginners course and will last for 26 weeks (6 months). In this time there will be 2 weeks of break, timing is TBC. Total teaching will therefore be 24 weeks.
